Forever, My Love
Cowboy/ Ménage
I’ve always loved romances. Since I was a double digit and
could take the bus by myself, I’d always ride over to the
used bookstore and trade in my allowance for stacks of
books. I’d pile them all around my bed and if I had no
money, re-read the ones I had just read.

I’m not going to tell you my age, but here’s a clue…I
remember buying Elizabeth Lowell’s Reckless Love when it
first came out as a Harlequin and reading it on the bus
home. As the line in the movie goes, she had me from
‘hello'.

The Lowcountry - Where I Live
If you want to say that I studied by romance by avidly
reading them, then I trained under the mastery of writers
like Johanna Lindsey, Jayne Anne Kern – I love her
silliness, Julie Garwood – can still remember the scene in
her historical romance where the cat farted in the heroine’s
face, and, the Queen of Sensuality herself, Elizabeth
Lowell.

It wasn’t until about a year ago – if that, when I came upon
a little book called Blackmail by Annmarie McKenna. I fell
in love with the book and quickly had to have more – more
ménage and that led me to straight to Maya Banks (my new
idol) and into the arms of publishers like Samhain and
Ellora’s Cave.

Oh, but soon I had loaded my computer down with so many
e-books and, of course, my own writing that I finally looked
at my mother and said, ‘I have less than 1% of my hard
drive memory left. She didn’t believe me, but, upon showing
her, she purchased for me an external hard drive – my
new favorite friend.
This was actually a
major
turning point in
my life. My mother,
who had always
encouraged me to
publish, came down on
me hard. What is the
point in writing and
scurrying it all away if
you never dare to
share?
The Gangsters - Thaddeus & Marvin
Truthfully it was just fear. After years of basking in the
glorious words of such greats, dare I, little Jenny, attempt
to step out on the platform and brazenly speak up? No. I
could never be so bold, but as a compromise to my loving,
nagging, mother, I dusted off a short story and submitted
to Siren Publishing.

I must admit that I am one of the luckiest writers in the
world, I submitted one story and amazingly enough, it was
accepted. That gave me the confidence to submit another
and another…Now here I am, actually embarking on a
journey that I never thought I would have the privilege of
taking.
The weirdest stop so far on
this trip
has been the fans.
Not the fans themselves, but
just the fact that I have
some. It’s nice to hear from
people that they like your
work, but it’s also very
disorienting. I’m just a
regular person.
My Favorite Place To Sit
and Dream
When you go to the grocery store and see the girl in the
check-out lane thanking you for shopping with us and to
please come again soon – that’s me, with my hair in a
ponytail, my feet aching and my shirt slowly working its way
out of my waistband.

The idea that she has a fan somewhere is just too odd for
me to wrap my head around. I don’t even bother. I’m just
very grateful to have such awesome people in my life
somewhere – especially Cindy. What started as a small
comment in a chat group, turned into a fan and blossomed
into a friend. That is the best thing you can have in life,
friendship and love.
To Cool For Words, So We Just Call Him Max
Like my best friend for decades now, Michele. She has
endured the worst of it when it comes to my writing. If I say
the name Morgan, she'd probably run, screaming, in the
opposite direction. That was the name of the heroine in the
first book I ever tired to write - three versions, each over
150,000 words and none completed, Michele read every
one, bless her heart.

Not that I have time for a lot of friends these days. From
job to writing to the two oversized, over exuberant beasts I
call babies, my life is completely chaotic – in a good way.
You can see the loves of my life in the pictures.

See the big, blonde guy? That’s Max and for those of you
who have read Mating Claire, that’s my inspiration for
Duke. Yes, he is a tennis ball addict, just like Duke. He likes
to soak his balls in the water bowl to make sure they’re nice
and juicy when he goes to chew on them.
The little fuzzy butt
that is too cute for

words is Buster, he’s
my mom’s baby. Buster
has another nickname
– Velcro and you’ll be
seeing him soon
enough in a book I’m
currently working on
and I should probably
get back to.
